Mentoring Works! WE NEED YOU!

What?

The 4C Coalition is recruiting mentors to help a young person struggling through the juvenile justice court system. The 4C Coalition Mentor Program recruits, trains and retains mentors for youth (12 to 18). Youth with a mentor spend fewer days in detention, are more likely to stay in school and report better relationships with their families than their peers. This incredible change comes about just by paying attention to these youth that have been ignored for so long. We can reclaim our youth, our neighborhoods, and our city. One person can make a huge difference. Make a difference as a mentor.

It's My Heart Seattle 1st Annual CHD Awareness Walk/Run

When?
Saturday, October 2, 2010
What?

We are pleased to announce It’s My Heart Seattle’s First Annual CHD (Congenital Heart Defects) Awareness Run/Walk & Family Fun Day to be held on Saturday, October 2nd, 2010 at Green Lake Park in Seattle, WA.

The monies raised will be used for It’s My Heart’s mission to provide support, spread awareness, education and advocate for those affected by Congenital Heart Defects. This is done through creating alliances with families, hospitals, support groups and the community by: • Providing informational literature, newsletters and up-to- date articles on CHD • Offering comfort bags, care packages and legacy boxes for families spending extended periods of time at Children’s Hospital Seattle, WA. • Public awareness through monthly support groups and informational meetings.

We are creating a positive, supportive and encouraging network of family and friends that total over 11,000 members nationwide and growing every day. Congenital Heart Defects are the number one birth defect in America. Nearly 1 out of every 100 babies is born with CHD, and twice as many children die from CHD in the United States than from all forms of childhood cancers combined.
